Continuing to showcase their talents, premier karting operation 2Wild Karting recently took in two events at the CalSpeed Karting facility in Fontana, California. Scoring several podium results in round five of the Los Angeles Karting Championship (LAKC), where several team drivers are also in contention for championship titles, 2Wild Karting also racked up two victories at the Tri-C Grand Prix with drivers aboard the championship-caliber Tony Kart chassis brand.
After taking the win in round four, TaG Senior pilot Carlee Taylor would again be the driver to beat. Leading every lap of the main event, except for the one that counts, Taylor would be relegated to P2 and have to settle for second place podium honors. At the midpoint of the LAKC schedule, Taylor currently sits tied for the TaG Senior championship lead.
In the S4 Magnum category, Ken Manning would put 2Wild on the podium with his third place effort in the day’s main event. Sal Menudiado would post an unfortunate DNF in the class, but left round five tied in the championship standings. In Open Shifter, Rob Whittley would just miss the podium with his fourth place effort.
Eric Molinatti added yet another podium result to 2Wild Karting’s tally. After sweeping the action in round four, Molinatti was unable to repeat but scored the third place overall in PRD Senior. Molinatti currently holds the second place in the championship standings. Fellow PRD Senior pilot Dan Rivera showed pace to fight for the win but came home sixth overall, with Carlee Taylor right behind in seventh. David Vasquez would be the final 2Wild driver in the class and will look to rebound at the next round after posting a DNF.
In Comer Cadet action, Colin Queen added another top-five result after placing fifth overall in the day’s main event.
Also taking in the Tri-C Grand Prix at the same facility the following weekend, 2Wild Karting would leave with two victories at the one-off event. Held in the in-field section of CalSpeed Karting on the 2+ mile track normally used for car and bike events, 2Wild pilots would be put to the test at the ‘fastest race in the west.’ Thomas Luo was the driver to beat in Rotax Junior, scoring the victory on day one and adding a second place podium result on day two. Carlee Taylor was the victor in the Rotax Senior category, but failed to finish the TaG Senior race.
2Wild Karting will next take on the sixth round of the LAKC July 14, as they are set to have their largest presence event with 19+ drivers tentatively scheduled to compete.
