On May 15th, 2015, Bill McLaughlin Jr., CEO, released David Malukas from all team activities.
“The reason for the release was due to several factors that we felt could not be overlooked. We have had a long relationship with the entire Malukas family and we are deeply saddened by the turn of events leading up to our decision. We as a company have come to the conclusion that there has not been enough interest in our current Rotax program to support the Rotax platform. We want to be clear that our decision was based on economics and not to be misconstrued as anything other than that. After viewing a photograph that circulated on social media we felt that the actions of disguising the kart with Top Kart decals was an action that we could not and will not overlook. We understand the importance of winning a Rotax championship for the Malukas family and wish them great success in that pursuit. For those that may be confused by the photos posted on social media, David’s 8th place finish was on a OTK chassis and not the developmental Rotax kart supplied by Top Kart.”
