Competing at both the Rotax Challenge of the Americas on the west coast and the Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour on the east coast, Rotax Micro Max driver Diego LaRoque went nearly perfect in all nine main events entered. Showing his speed and race craft across the country, LaRoque also showed his diversity by winning aboard two different chassis brands and with two different teams in two premier winter series in the United States.
“It was a great start to the 2015 season,” explained Aaron LaRoque, father of the multi-time race winner. “Diego is really focused on success, and he is determined to win each and every time he is on the track. Even though he is young, he understands his equipment and his feedback on chassis setup and handling is getting better with each passing event. I am very excited for Diego’s future, and it is great to spend such quality time with my son.”
Competing at the Rotax Challenge of the Americas with the Nash Motorsports squad, LaRoque went perfect in the series claiming all six main event victories. With fierce competition from several fast drivers, LaRoque kept his cool in high-pressure situations. At times dominating the field, LaRoque was also forced to make some bold last lap maneuvers to stand atop the podium.
Looking to race in the biggest karting events with the most competition, LaRoque would travel to the eastern half of the United States and see action at two of the three event weekends at the Cold Stone Florida Winter Tour. While the future motorsports star qualified on the pole position for both Saturday and Sunday’s wheel-to-wheel action in Orlando in February, Saturday would be his only falter in the first three months of the 2015 season as he was hit from behind entering turn three in treacherous wet weather conditions and sent off the track. Forced to start the main event from the tail of the field, LaRoque would have no luck on the day, as he would be involved in a first corner incident. Returning to the Orlando Kart Center on Sunday, LaRoque would put Saturday’s results behind him and return to his familiar position at the front of the field and the top step of the podium.

Traveling back to the ‘Sunshine State’ this past weekend, LaRoque would compete in the final round of the Florida Winter Tour program. Once again showing his speed and race craft, LaRoque remained consistent through the heat races and looked poised to take the prefinal victory before a last lap pass by a fellow competitor would send him down the running order to sixth. Determined to drive forward, LaRoque made quick work of the drivers in front of him and was back to the point before the half way mark of the final and never looked back, taking his eighth main event victory of the season.
Diego LaRoque will be a busy driver this season, as he will compete in the top series throughout North America. LaRoque will see action in the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour before joining Team BBR for the Can-Am Rotax Karting Challenge, Rotax US Open and the United States Rotax Grand Nationals.
LaRoque would like to thank Nash Motorsportz, especially Seth Nash and Chris Freckelton for their hard work and continued support. LaRoque would also like to thank everyone associated with Team Benik as well as his driver coach, Blake Choquer of BBR Karting.
