Fresh off a double podium event at the final round of the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS), BENIK Kart would travel back to their home state of Florida for round four of the Rok Cup USA program. Taking place at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida, BENIK Kart drivers would continue their successful cross-continent runs by scoring race wins and podium results under hot and difficult conditions.
“It was another great weekend,” explained BENIK Kart Co-Founder Nick Mitchell. “I feel like I say this week in and week out, but we are managing to secure big time race wins across the United States. Not only are we at the front of the field in local and regional competition, the national scene has been good for us as well.”
Leading the way at the end of the weekend was BENIK pilot Lachlan DeFrancesco who drove from deep in the field to take the Vortex Mini Rok victory. After failing to finish the prefinal, the Floridian came from the 18th place starting position to drive forward and take the win. Fellow BENIK Kart drivers Derek Carmenate and David Morales would round out the podium as BENIK drivers scored the top three positions. Carmenate would score the fastest lap of the main event while Morales would lead most of the event before falling to P3 late in the stages.
Chase Heffner would find his way to the front of Vortex Micro Rok field by the end of the weekend after having mechanical issues throughout Saturday. When all was said and done, Heffner will enter the final round as one of the favorites to claim the overall series title. Fellow Micro Rok and BENIK driver Valentino Mini turned heads this past weekend in Ocala as he ran in the top three in the prefinal. An unfortunate last corner incident ruined any chances of a good result but he showed great speed throughout the weekend and will join Team BENIK moving forward.
Jeremy Fairbairn would also be aboard a BENIK chassis for this past weekend’s Rok Cup USA round and showed speed early. Though the main event results were not what he had hoped, Fairbairn enjoyed the atmosphere and experience of the BENIK squad and has signed on with the team for all foreseeable events.
Though not under the Team BENIK tent this past weekend, Lance Fenderson would represent the squad on the podium two weekends ago at the final rounds of the USPKS program. Scoring a pair of third place results in Yamaha Cadet and Vortex Mini Rok, Fenderson had the speed to run at the front of the field and proved that BENIK Kart is one to beat.
