With the 2014 Florida Pro Kart Series (FPKS) just around the corner, a pair of major sponsors have stepped up to the plate to support the new program. The Ticket Clinic and The Karting Source have each jumped on board with the series to kick-start the awards program and with their help, the FKPS will be handing out cold hard cash to drivers of the ‘Pro’ divisions.
“I am really excited to have The Ticket Clinic and The Karting Source on board,” expressed Series Owner and President Glenn Biggs. “With the help and support of these companies, we will be awarding an unprecedented amount of cash awards in the series first season.”
The Florida Kart Pro Series will run a total of seven divisions including Micro TaG, TaG Cadet, Mini TaG, Junior TaG, Senior TaG and Shifters. Looking to build the future of the sport, the FPKS will award cash prizes to the Pro Classes of TaG Cadet, Micro TaG and Mini TaG. With the support from The Karting Source and The Ticket Clinic, $1000.00 in each of the Pro Classes with an additional 20% of the registration fees also being awarded back to the competitor.
Biggs continued, “For example, each round the Pro Classes will be awarded $1000.00. Also, if we get 20 competitors, 20% of the registration fee will be turned back to the drivers making an additional $400.00 up for grabs each day. The cash prizes will be given away to the top three on the overall series championship when it concludes later this year with 50% going to the class champion, 30% to the vice champion and 20% to the driver finishing in the third position.”
In other series news, the Florida Pro Kart Series is pleased to announce that all classes will run the MG brand of tire. Also, series competitors will only be allowed to use one set of tires per weekend, making it cost affordable and bringing in the element of strategy over the two-day event weekend. Competition tires will need to be purchased from the Florida Pro Kart Series and will be marked but can be used any and every event weekend throughout the series. Practice tires can also be purchased from the series or be supplied by an MG tire dealer of your choice.
“We are allowing teams and competitors to use used tires each and every race day. We are not going to force drivers to purchase new tires if they don’t want to,” added Biggs. “Also, with only seven classes, there will be plenty of track time for all series drivers.”
