FLORIDA PRO KART SERIES LAUNCHED FOR 2014

Announced this past week over social media, the Florida Pro Kart Series (FPKS) is set to kick off in 2014. A three-race program sanction by the World Karting Association (WKA), the FPKS looks to add the fun back to regional level competition while taking an unbiased approach. Formed by Florida Winter Tour Chief Steward Glenn Biggs, the new program will offer TaG and Rok classes while utilizing MG Tires.

“I am really happy and excited to make the FPKS a reality and look forward to our first event,” expressed Series Owner Glenn Biggs. “We have worked hard to put the initial touches on what is sure to be a growing series and will continue to build as we enter into the 2014 season.”

With a fall race program in the works, the spring/summer edition will kick off in April at the Homestead Karting Complex on the grounds of the famed Homestead Miami Speedway before moving northward to the Palm Beach International Raceway in June. Closing the series with a double race weekend in August, the Florida Pro Kart Series will end at the Orlando Kart Center in Orlando, Florida and crown their inaugural champions.

Running a total of ten classes, the Florida Pro Kart Series will run join forces with the Rok program and offer Mini Rok, Rok Junior, Rok Senior, Rok Masters and RoK Shifter. The series will also offer a host of multi-engine TaG classes with TaG Junior, TaG Senior and TaG Masters. Looking to grow the sport and keep the younger drivers involved week in and week out, the FPKS is also offering TaG Micro and TaG Mini divisions as they will utilize the ever-popular Rotax powerplants. All classes will run on the MG brand of tires purchased from the series and will only be allowed one set of tires per event weekend.

Biggs continued, “The Rotax and TaG markets are the largest karting group that we have on the eastern half of the United States so we have decided to cater our series towards this marketplace.”

With the goal of running an unbiased series, Biggs and his crew are devoted to providing a safe and fun-racing environment while keeping the politics away from the racetrack.
