KOENE USA HEADS TO ORLANDO FOR FORMULA KART WEEKEND OF THE FWT

With the final rounds of the Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour fast approaching, Team Koene USA will once again head south to the Sunshine State. Taking place at the Orlando Kart Center in Orlando, Florida, the Tony Kart team will enter four drivers in the Formula Kart weekend of competition as two will enter TaG Cadet and two in TaG Junior. Looking to fight for more race wins and podiums, Team Koene USA will also look to score their first Florida Winter Tour championship in only their second year of existence.

“It has been a great start to the 2014 season and we are looking to cap off the Florida Winter Tour on a high note,” expressed Team Principal Mike Maurini. “The FWT is one of the premiere series that North America has to offer and it is a great springboard into the summer karting season.”

Michael d’Orlando enters the final rounds of the TaG Cadet division on the brink of his first Florida Winter Tour championship. With four main event wins and a commanding lead in the points championship, the New York resident will try and put it all away on Saturday. Younger brother Nicholas currently sits second in the points battle on the strength of a pole position, heat race victory and a pair of second place results. With the duo set to contest the tricky Orlando layout, they will continue to work together to ensure success. Both brothers will be on board Koene Racing powered Tony Karts.

Roman DeAngelis and Jarrett Voorhies will be back under the Team Koene USA tent in the TaG Junior ranks as the pair will try and finish their Florida Winter Tour campaign strong. DeAngelis started his season off well with a pair of pole positions and podium results at the Homestead Karting facility in January and currently sits sixth in the overall championship chase. Having an Ocala round that he would like to forget, DeAngelis is determined to be back at the pointy end of the field.

Jarrett Voorhies will also enter the TaG Junior category on the strength of his career best Florida Winter Tour result. Always learning and gaining experience, Voorhies managed a top-ten result on Saturday and returned Sunday to come home twelfth. Dueling in a stout field of junior competitors, Voorhies is excited to head to the Orlando Kart Center, the track that he feels is the best for him on the Tour.

Team Koene USA will be on site in Orlando on Tuesday, March 11th to set up and prepare for the event. With trackside sales opening on Wednesday, drivers will first hit the track on Thursday morning for unofficial practice. Wheel-to-wheel competition will take place both Saturday and Sunday.
