With the end of the year near, Ledson Motorsports has already begun preparations for the 2014 racing season. After garnering the 2013 Ontario Legends Championship title with team driver Nicholas Ledson, and younger brother Cole Ledson completing his rookie year in the Legends ranks, the team is set to tackle more competition in both Canada and the US next year in the 5/8-scale model car series.
Recently closing out the 2013 racing season, Ledson Motorsports would see action at the Lake Erie Speedway in mid-September for the Legends Nationals. Competing in the “Race of Champions” against season champions from each state and province, Nicholas would score a commendable seventh place finish. The National event would see the rising talent qualify 17th. With the car a bit off, the Ledson Motorsports crew would go to work making adjustments in advance of the racing action. Starting from his 17th on the grid, Nicholas quickly made it up to fifth before he was slammed by another car and spun out. Falling way down the running order in the field of 38 cars, Nicholas managed to battle back to 12th in only eight laps.
“Nicholas’ performance at the Nationals was impressive,” explained father, Geordie Ledson of Ledson Motorsports. “The times he was turning per lap were the same as the top three cars. If he hadn’t been hit, I’m sure Nicholas would have been fighting for the victory.”
Ledson Motorsports would complete their 2013 season in Florida, as the team is gearing up for the 2014 Winter Nationals this February. Heading to the Auburndale Speedway in Winter Haven, Florida a few weeks ago, Nicholas would continue his string of impressive results placing first in class and third overall. Looking strong for the 2014 season, Nicholas is certain to once again be on top of his game.
Younger brother Cole would complete his rookie year in the Legends ranks in 2013, and is looking to turn up the wick in 2014. Getting back on track this coming April, Cole will lay down laps and put in a lot of practice in preparation for the upcoming season.
