LEDSON MOTORSPORTS SCORES MAIDEN VICTORIES IN ONTARIO LEGENDS ACTION

Set to contest the entire series schedule in 2013 Ontario Legends racing action, Ledson Motorsports team driver Nicholas Ledson scored his first victories of the season and his first in the Legends ranks. Taking on the Peterborough Speedway for three recent events in the Ontario Legends series, Ledson Motorsports came out on top not once, but twice in only their second season in the 5/8-scale model car series.

“After choosing to focus on Legends for 2013, it is quite an accomplishment to get our maiden victories with Nicholas under our belt,” explained Geordie Ledson of Ledson Motorsports and father to Nicholas and his brother Cole. “It’s a great start to the season and I am excited to see what the rest of 2013 has in store for us.”

In his second season in the Legends ranks, 16-year-old Nicholas Ledson entered 2013 as the 2012 rookie of the year based on his one podium finish, three top-fives, three top-tens and two heat race victories. As one of the drivers to watch in 2013, Nicholas made a splash at the Ontario Legends season opener on May 18, winning his first heat and then placing fifth in his second heat. Starting the season off right and with title hopes in mind, the fourth place points finisher from 2012 went on to take the first victory of the year and his first ever in Legends racing.

Younger brother Cole would make his first start in the Ontario Legends series that weekend as well. Joining Nicholas in the series for 2013, Cole would end his first race with a 12th place finish.

The duo would head back to the Peterborough circuit May 25, Nicholas would add third place and second place results in the heats before winding up ninth in the feature, while Cole crossed seventh for his two heat races and again finished 12th overall.

Once again taking on the Peterborough Speedway on June 8, after the third race scheduled for June 1 was cancelled due to rain, Ledson Motorsports left with their second Legends victory. Nicholas started with a fourth place result in his first heat, and then went on to win the second heat and score his second feature win in his short Legends career. Cole posted his best heat results to date, with fifth and sixth place finishes, and added another 12th place overall in the feature.

Finally, this past weekend Ledson Motorsports traveled to the Erie Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania for more seat time in Legends racing. Nicholas managed to impress against a field of 32 in the Semi Pro division. Qualifying 12th overall, Nicholas fell back to 14th in his first heat. Making some adjustments to the car, Nicholas started 15th for the final and drove to a remarkable fourth place finish overall.

Ledson Motorsports will next be on track in Ontario Legends action this Saturday, June 22 at Peterborough Speedway. The team will continue to contest the entire Ontario Legends schedule in 2013, and with no karting events on the calendar, Nicholas and Cole will also schedule additional races in Legends action at Erie Speedway in Pennsylvania as well as other club events to be determined.
