Traveling to the Simraceway Performance Driving Center in Sonoma, California, P1 Engines would score a pair of victores at the SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Kart Challenge. Taking honors in the X30 Junior and X30 Masters class, P1 Engines proved once again, that they are one of the top TaG engine builders in the nation.
Dante Yu would set the pace in X30 Junior and never look back. Claiming the pole position in qualifying, Yu swept the heat races and scored the fastest lap of the final en route to a sweep of the day. Oliver Calvo’s day would start and end on the wrong foot. After a broken chain in qualifying would force the speedster to start heat one at the tail of the field, he drove to a solid eighth place result from his 28th place starting position. Heat two would be another improvement to second when the checkered flag flew. Calvo would look to be in position to battle for the overall victory before an attempted pass for the lead on the final circuit of the main event would cause a spin and an eventual DNF result.
Edward Portz Jr. would also have a great run in the X30 Junior class running in the top three positions throughout the day. Taking the lead at one point and looking to be in position for a race win, Portz would be driven off the racing surface while in the third position. Gary Lyles had his best finish of the SKUSA Pro Kart Challenge season improving on his 13th place qualifying effort to end the day in fifth. Colin Mullan and Tomas Mejia would cross the line seventh and tenth respectively.
The X30 Senior class and P1 Engines would welcome back Michael Michoff after a serious incident took him out of competition for nearly three months. Upon his return, Michoff was right back on pace and claimed the pole position and win in the first of two heat races. Heat two would be the only blemish in his daily results as he would fall back to sixth and start the final from outside row three. Driving forward in the main event, Michoff would earn a podium result crossing the stripe in the second position.
Austin Elliot would put another P1 Engines driver in the top-five of the X30 Senior running order at the end of the day but a penalty would relegate him out of his strong finishing result. Nick Ramirez would be classified in the fourth position while Colby Dubato would end up sixth after all penalties were served.
Mike Rolison would add to P1 Engines’ resume and claim the second win of the weekend for the popular engine builder as he swept the day in the X30 Masters class. Showing the speed that nobdy else could match, Rolison paced each and every official on track session and topped the blocks at the end of the day.
Two P1 Engines drivers would show their speed in the IAME Micro Swift class as Piers Asparis and Mathias Coito would finish inside the top-ten. Asparis had great speed but no luck to go along with it and would cross the line in fourth while Coito also had some bad racing luck but managed to salvage a seventh place finish.
