Creating SuperTuners Inc. in 2013, Greg Bell would put forth a program to help karting competitors. Offering the same services that he provided within his own Leading Edge Motorsports Race Team, Bell worked to put together a talented group of tuners to service drivers on other kart brands. Claiming race wins and championships throughout the United Sates, SuperTuners Inc. secured a Rotax DD2 Masters National Championship at the Cold Stone US Grand Nationals at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
“I had a great time working with Mike,” expressed Greg Bell. “He is always determined to get the best out of his equipment and knows exactly what he needs to go faster. While it is my job to provide a fast kart, his input and knowledge make my job easier.”
Starting off the weeklong event with unofficial practice, Jones and Bell would pace near the front of the Rotax DD2 Masters field. With a ticket to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals and a spot on Team USA on the line, Friday would bring qualifying and the first of three heat races. Narrowly missing the pole position by a mere .230 seconds, Jones and Bell would go to work on their two-speed DD2 machine in preparation for wheel-to-wheel competition.
Heat one would see a great battle between the top two pilots in the class with the SuperTuners Inc. machine of Mike Jones coming home in the second position. Heats two and three on Saturday proved to be better for the Bell and Jones duo as they secured a pair of heat race wins and ultimately the pole position for Championship Sunday’s prefinal. Looking as if he was the driver to beat, Jones and Bell were confident in their chances to secure a national title.
With weather moving into the area on Sunday, drivers and tuners alike would keep one eye on the sky and one eye on the ever-changing racetrack. With the prefinal being run under dry conditions, the SuperTuners Inc. SodiKart of Jones would end the heat in the second position, securing a front row starting spot for the main event. With a Team USA position on the line, Bell and Jones would formulate a race winning setup for the day’s main event. Working hard to ensure success and never giving up, Jones hit the track for the Rotax DD2 Masters final and never looked back. Scoring the race win by 1.281 seconds as well as the fastest lap of the race, Jones secured his position on Team USA and will join the team in Valencia, Spain later this year.
Bell continued, “I run a race team and sell Praga and Intrepid chassis but my SuperTuners business is much different from my race team. I hire qualified tuners to work on multiple different kart brands across the United States. This weekend it was my turn to get behind the wrenches and tune a SodiKart to victory.”
